4 days in Nepal !

We decided very spontaneously to spend the new year long week end in... Kathmandu! It's only 3.5 hours from here and offers a real change of scene. We discovered the richness of its histoiry and people, the treasures of its architecture and culture. Kathmandu, Bakhtapur, Patan,
Bodhnath are all amazing places, full of temples, great architecture (did you know that a Nepali architect from the 9th century invented the superposition of roofs you now see everywhere in Asia?), breathtaking views (the backdrop of the major temple in Bakhtapur is the Everest range...) and such friendly people. Despite their poverty (among the 10 poorest countries in the world...) they are kind and smiling. We now would like to go back for a trek possibly to Annapurna or even Everest Base Camp... One can only dream about it!

A street in Kathmandu: bustling with activity, a chaotic circulation and old, very old temples, market "stalls" everywhereBodhnath temple - the major Buddhist temple where a lot of Tibetan refugees come to pray
In the Garden of Dreams in the middle of Kathmandu: a very quite and secluded park in the middle of the chaos of this wonderful city
