Dune Bashing

Last week end, we were invited to Al Ain by Youssef and his wife. As usual in the culture here, I stayed in the house with the other wives and the children while the men where off to the dunes! With a buggie and a quad, they enjoyed the ride on the red dunes around Al Ain. The scenery was exceptionnal, especially from the top of a very high dune that gave a magical point of view as the sun was setting. Meanwhile, at home, the ladies gave me a guided tour of the farm: horses, camels, sheep, goats but also ostriches, geese, antilopes to name but a few. I had a good time and loved watching the myriad of children running around and driving their little quad bikes on the dunes surrounding the house. I really hope we have the opportunity of repeating such an enriching afternoon.
